Shipping Custom Folding Fans in Bulk

Summary

Choose a shipping service using the arrival deadline, packed carton size and complete delivery cost—not fan quantity alone.

Choose the service for the shipment

The best shipping option for custom folding fans depends on the packed cartons, destination and arrival deadline. Fan quantity alone is not enough: individual gift boxes can make the same number of fans take up much more space.

OptionWhen to compare itWhat to check
Express parcelsSamples or smaller urgent shipmentsThe named service, parcel size limits, delivery address and excluded charges.
Air freightLarger urgent ordersAirport handling, clearance and final delivery, unless already included.
Sea freightLarger volumes with more time availableSailing schedule, destination handling and delivery costs. Compare shared-container LCL with a full container where appropriate.

Compare transport speed, total cost and the actual route schedule. Do not choose sea freight only because its main transport charge looks low; local and minimum charges can change a small shipment’s total.

We confirm available shipping options for the packed order and destination.

Give the forwarder usable shipment details

Request a quote using the following information. Mark estimated carton data as estimated, then update it when the order is packed.

  • Collection location and the complete delivery address, including postal code.
  • Number of cartons, with each different carton size listed separately.
  • External length, width and height of each packed carton, with units.
  • Gross weight of each carton, including fans, individual packs, protection and the outer box.
  • Total fan quantity, packaging type and any pallet dimensions and gross weight.
  • Ready-to-ship date, required arrival date and receiving restrictions.

A venue, shop or residential address may need a different delivery arrangement from a warehouse. Tell the forwarder about appointments, limited opening hours or unloading needs before comparing offers.

Measure the finished cartons

Measure each closed, packed outer carton, including any bulge or protrusion. Use the outer carton dimensions rather than the fan, inner gift box or empty flattened box.

Carton volume in m³ = length × width × height in metres. Multiply by the number of cartons of that size. For mixed carton sizes, calculate each group and add the volumes.

Reducing unused space can lower shipment volume, but the pack must still protect the fans and allow safe handling. Check a complete packed carton before changing the arrangement.

Calculate volumetric weight

Express parcels may be charged by the space they occupy when that exceeds their actual weight. For DHL Express shipments under its UK calculation rule:

Volumetric weight in kg = length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 5,000.

Compare volumetric weight with actual packed weight and use the higher figure for charging. Calculate each package separately.

Confirm the units, divisor, measurement and rounding rules for the selected service. The 5,000 divisor does not apply to every carrier or freight mode. Other transport and destination charges may also apply.

Compare delivery to the same place

Ask each provider to state where its responsibility ends. “Air freight” or “shipping included” does not tell you whether the offer reaches an airport, a local depot or your door.

Cost or serviceQuestion to settle
Collection and main transportAre both included for the quoted carton data?
Destination handling and clearanceWho arranges them, and which charges remain payable?
Duties and taxesAre they included, estimated or payable separately?
Final delivery and unloadingDoes the offer reach the named address with the receiving service needed?
Loss or damage coverWhat cover, exclusions and claim requirements apply?

Compare current written offers for the same shipment. Do not treat an insurance option, a carrier’s liability terms and a guaranteed arrival date as interchangeable.

Prepare documents and receiving instructions

The shipment description should identify the actual fans and their materials, rather than only “gifts” or “samples.” Vague descriptions can lead to requests for clarification and delays. Confirm the required documents and classification with the shipping provider for the destination.

Use carton labels and a packing list that let the receiver identify quantities and artwork versions. For a split delivery, show which fans travel in each shipment. Arrange someone to check carton counts and visible condition when they arrive, and follow the provider’s reporting requirements if there is damage.

Requote when the pack changes

Adding individual boxes, changing carton counts or using pallets can change weight, volume and handling. Send revised data before booking; an old estimate may no longer describe the shipment.

FoldCool’s typical bulk production time is 7–15 days, with shipping separate. Keep the production finish date and transport estimate separate when planning arrival. If only part of an order is urgent, compare sending that quantity faster and the balance later, including the extra packing and delivery work.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Compare the complete cost for the packed shipment and destination. Sea freight may suit larger volumes with enough time, but handling, minimum charges and local delivery can change the result for a small order.

A carrier may use volumetric weight to account for space. Compare it with actual packed weight under the selected service’s rule. Divisors, units and rounding vary between services.

Provide the carton count, external packed dimensions and gross weight for each carton type, plus collection and delivery addresses and required dates. Include any pallets and receiving restrictions. Update estimated measurements after final packing.
